Your First Group
Everything in Vivreal lives inside a group — your team's shared workspace. Collections, sites, integrations, and billing are all scoped to a group. You need at least one group before you can start creating content.
What is a Group?
A group is a workspace that holds all of your content and configuration. Think of it as your organization or project container. Each group has:
- Its own collections of content
- Its own deployed sites
- Its own integrations (Stripe, social media, etc.)
- Its own team members with role-based permissions
- Its own billing plan and usage quotas
You can belong to multiple groups and switch between them from the portal sidebar.
Creating a Group
Start the group creation flow
After your first login, Vivreal prompts you to create or join a group. If you've dismissed that prompt, tap the + button in the group selector menu, then choose Create Group.
Name your group
Enter a group name — this is the display name your team sees (e.g., "Acme Corp" or "My Portfolio").
A slug is automatically generated from the name. The slug is used in URLs and API references, so keep it short and readable. You can customize it before saving.
Confirm creation
Click Create. Vivreal provisions your group workspace, and you're taken to the dashboard as the group owner.
Inviting Team Members
Once your group exists, you can invite others to collaborate.
- Open your group settings from the dashboard.
- Go to the Members section.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to invite and select their role.
- Click Send Invite. They'll receive an email with a link to join your group.
Invited users who don't have a Vivreal account yet will be prompted to register before joining your group.
Group Roles
Every member of a group has one of three roles. Permissions are enforced across the portal.
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full control. Manage billing, delete the group, promote/demote members. Only one owner per group. |
| Admin | Create and manage collections, sites, and integrations. Invite and remove members. Cannot delete the group or change billing. |
| Member | Can view collections and content. Cannot manage sites, integrations, or team settings. |
Ownership transfer is permanent. Only transfer ownership if you're certain the new owner should have full billing and deletion control.
Joining an Existing Group
If a colleague has already created a group, you can join it in two ways:
- Email invite — click the link in the invitation email.
- Join code — enter the group's join code from the group creation/join dialog.
Switching Between Groups
If you belong to multiple groups, use the group selector in the popup menu to switch. Your active group determines which collections, sites, and integrations you see throughout the portal.
Next Steps
With your group created, head to the dashboard overview to learn your way around the portal.
