Your Website

There are two ways to get your content in front of visitors:

  1. Let Vivreal build it: pick a design and Vivreal puts a complete website live for you
  2. Keep your own site: if you already have a website, it can pull its content from Vivreal

Both read from the same content, so you can switch later, or run both at once.

Option 1: Let Vivreal build it

The fastest way to go live. Pick a design and Vivreal takes care of the rest.

When you create a site in the portal, Vivreal:

  1. Builds your site from the design you picked
  2. Puts it online, served quickly to visitors anywhere in the world
  3. Gives you a live web address straight away

It is a proper, professional website: fast, works on phones, and set up so search engines can read it. It updates itself whenever you change your content.

Starting points

Every site starts from the picker: a designed kit made for your kind of business, each in one or more looks, or a blank canvas you build yourself in Studio. Bakery and Musician kits are live today, and the shelf is growing. See Choosing a template.

Whatever you start from, the fiddly parts (page addresses, search engine setup, looking right on every screen size) are handled so you can think about your content instead.

What you can change

From the portal you can:

  • Connect your own domain name
  • Set your colours and logo
  • Rebuild the site
  • Check whether it went live

The starting point itself is fixed once a site is created; to change it, create another site against the same content.

Option 2: Keep your own site

Already have a website you like, or a developer who wants to build one from scratch? You can keep it and still manage the words and pictures in Vivreal. Your site pulls its content from here, so you edit in one place and your site keeps up.

This works with whatever your site is built with, and it works for a phone app too.

Your developer needs your API key, which is on the Group Settings page, and the Self-Hosting guide. Hand them those two things and they have everything they need.

How your content and your site fit together

Both options work the same way underneath:

  • Content is the words and pictures you manage
  • Your site is how visitors see them

Which means:

  • Edit an item and your site updates, with nothing to rebuild and nobody to call
  • The same content can feed more than one site, each looking different
  • You can redesign later without retyping a thing

Changes show up within seconds.
