Creating a Site

Make a new site in Vivreal: pick a kit or start blank, choose a look, name it, and get a web address

Creating a Site

Making a site takes a few minutes. You say what kind of business it is for, pick a look, name it, and Vivreal does the rest.

Before you start

You need admin or owner role in your group. That is the only requirement.

You do not need payments set up first

Nothing in site creation asks about payments. You just will not be able to take money until Stripe or Square is connected, which you can do at any point.

1. Open Sites

Go to Sites. Anything you already have is listed here with its current status.

2. Say what kind of business it is

Tap the button to add a site. The first question is What kind of business is this?

  • Designed kits are complete sites for a specific kind of business. Each card says what the kit is about and how many looks it has. See Choosing a template
  • Start blank gives you an empty site you build yourself in Studio

Pick the closest match and tap Continue. You can change everything later in the editor.

3. Pick a look

Kits only; starting blank skips straight to naming.

Each look has a preview, a one-line feel, and how many pages and ready-made entries it comes with. Pick the one that feels like your business and tap Use this look.

4. Name your site

The name becomes your web address. As you type, Vivreal shows the address you will get, something like sunrise-bakery.vivreal.io, and checks that it is available.

Names need at least 3 characters, using letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens and underscores.

You can also add a contact email and phone number here. Both are optional, and you can skip them.

Tap Create my site.

What happens next

From a kit

Vivreal builds the site in the background. It appears in your site list straight away as Building, and you can watch its progress or simply carry on; the page updates itself. Expect a few minutes.

When it is ready, open it from the Sites page and make it yours in Studio.

Start blank

The site is created straight away, empty, and is not on the web yet. Build your pages in Studio, then use Publish this site on the site's Overview when you are ready.

Your web address

Every site gets a free Vivreal address made from its name, like sunrise-bakery.vivreal.io. When you want your own domain, connect it later from the site's pages. See Custom domains.

Status

A site being built shows one of three:

StatusMeaning
DeployingBeing built. Usually a few minutes
LiveDone, and reachable at its address
FailedSomething went wrong. The message says what

The status updates on its own. You do not need to refresh.

Once it is live

Content changes appear on the live site on their own. There is nothing to rebuild.

How many sites you can have depends on your plan

Free allows one. Paid plans allow more, and the picker tells you if you have hit your limit, with what an upgrade would change. See Plans and limits.

If it fails

  • Read the message on the Sites page. It usually names the problem
  • Try again from the site's settings
  • Still stuck? See Site not updating, or contact support
