Adding and Editing Items

Items are the individual pieces of content: one blog post, one product, one team member. Once a content type has its fields set up, you can start adding them.

Finding your items

Tap Content in the bottom navigation bar, then tap the content type you want. You will see everything you have added, laid out in columns that match your fields.

From here you can:

  • Sort by any column, by tapping its heading
  • Search using the search bar
  • Filter by tag or by what is in a field
  • Switch the layout between a table and cards

Adding an item

Open the content type

Go to the one you want to add to.

Tap New

Tap New in the top right. A form opens, built from the fields you set up.

Fill it in

You get a box for each field:

  • Short Text is a single-line box
  • Structured / Long Text opens a full editor with bold, headings, and lists
  • Whole Number and Decimal Number take numbers
  • Date, Date & Time, and Time open a picker
  • Custom Choices is a dropdown of the options you set
  • True / False is a switch
  • Image, Video, and File Upload give you an upload area (see Photos and Files)
  • List of Items lets you add several values
  • Color opens a colour picker
  • Variant Field gives you a separate box per option, for the fields it affects

Required fields have a star (*) next to them. You cannot save until those are filled in.

Save

Tap Save. The item shows up in your list straight away, and on your live website.

Changing something

Tap any item in the list to open it, make your change, and tap Save. That is it. The change is live.

Vivreal keeps a history of your edits. If you change something and want it back the way it was, open Version History from the item and restore an earlier version.

Deleting an item

  1. Tap the three dots on the item's row, or open the item itself.
  2. Choose Delete.
  3. Confirm.

Deleting is permanent. The item comes off your website too.

Deleting an item also deletes the photos and files attached to it. Check you do not need them first.

Version history

Every time you save, Vivreal keeps a snapshot. You can:

  • See the full history of what changed
  • Compare any two versions side by side
  • Restore an earlier version in one tap

How many versions are kept depends on your plan. Once you hit the limit, the oldest ones drop off automatically.

A few tips

  • Use tags freely: they are what make things findable once you have a few hundred items.
  • Fill in the required fields properly: half-finished items can look broken on your site.
  • Take a look at your site afterwards: saving is instant, so you can check the real page straight away.
  • Keep your formatting consistent: the long-text editor handles headings, lists, links, bold, and italic. Using them the same way across posts is what makes a site look put together.

Next steps

If your content type accepts photos and files, read Photos and Files next.
