Upload images and files to your items

Photos and Files

When a content type has Image, Video, or File Upload fields, you can upload straight from the item form. Tap the upload button on that field, pick your file, and it is attached.

How It Works

Uploads are handled securely and delivered fast:

  • Fast uploads: files go directly to cloud storage without bottlenecks
  • Fast delivery: your sites load media from the nearest CDN edge location
  • Secure by default: upload links are single-use and expire automatically

Supported Formats

CategoryFormats
ImagesJPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG
DocumentsPDF
VideoMP4, WebM

Your images are served from a fast global network, so they load quickly wherever your visitors are.

Adding an image or file field

To add photos or files, give the content type a field of type Image, Video, or File Upload. Each one puts a single upload button on the form.

For fields that need multiple files (e.g., a product photo gallery), use the Gallery type. Gallery fields let you upload several images or videos to a single field.

You can have several of these on one content type, say a "Featured Image" for the top of the page and a "Photos" gallery for the rest.

Use descriptive field names for media fields (e.g., "Hero Image", "Thumbnail", "Photo Gallery") so content editors know which file goes where.

Managing Existing Media

To replace a file, open the item, tap the field it is in, and upload a new one. The old file is deleted, so it stops counting towards your storage.

To remove a file without replacing it, use the remove button on the field and save the item.

Storage Usage

Your total storage is shown on the dashboard. It counts every image and file you have uploaded, across everything. If you are getting close to your limit, either clear out what you are not using or move up a plan.

Next Steps

That covers content types, fields, items and files, which is everything you need to manage your content. Next, Sites shows you how to put it on the web.
