You changed something in Vivreal but your live site still looks the same

Site Not Updating

You edited something, saved it, and your site looks exactly the same. Work down this list.

1. Check it actually saved

Open the item again. If your change is there, it saved. If it is not, the form was still open when you navigated away.

Required fields are the usual culprit. If any field marked with a star (*) is empty, the item will not save, and it is easy to miss the message on a long form.

2. Check the publish date

If an item has a publish date in the future, it is waiting on purpose. It will appear on your site by itself when that date arrives.

Open the item and look at its publish date. If it is set to next Tuesday, that is your answer. Clear it, or set it to today, to make the item live now.

3. Refresh properly

Your browser keeps a copy of pages it has already loaded, and it will happily show you the old one.

  • Hold Shift and click reload
  • Or open your site on your phone, on mobile data rather than your wifi
  • Or open the page in a private window

If the change is there on your phone but not your laptop, it worked, and your laptop is showing you a stored copy.

4. Check whether it needs a rebuild

Most edits go live on their own. Two kinds do not:

  • Switching template
  • Changing which sections your homepage has, and their order

Those need the site rebuilt:

  1. Open your site's settings panel
  2. Tap Redeploy
  3. Give it three to five minutes

Your site stays up and reachable the whole time. The new version takes over once the rebuild finishes.

Adding, editing, and deleting items never needs a rebuild. If you find yourself redeploying after every content edit, something else is going on, and it is worth checking the publish date first.

5. Check you are looking at the right site

If you have more than one site running off the same content, it is easy to edit content that feeds site A and then check site B. Open the site from the Sites tab so you know you are on the one you just changed.

Still not right

Check the Audit Log on your Group page. It records what changed and when, so you can confirm your edit actually landed and see whether anyone else changed it back.
