Connect Square
Connecting Square lets you take payments on your Vivreal site, bring your Square catalogue into the portal, and track orders and sales without leaving Vivreal.
Square and Stripe are equal choices here. Neither is the default and neither is a fallback. Use whichever you already take payments through.
The practical difference is how you connect. Square asks you to sign in. There is no key to create and copy.
Before you start
You need a Square account and an admin or owner role in your Vivreal group.
1. Open the Square channel
In Vivreal, go to Channels and tap Square.
2. Sign in to Square
Tap Connect. Vivreal sends you to Square to sign in and approve the connection. You are approving Vivreal, so we never see your Square password, and there is no key for you to handle.
3. Come back to Vivreal
Square sends you back to the Channels page and your business appears under Connected.
4. Decide how your catalogue keeps up
Open the Settings tab. Auto-sync catalog pulls changes from Square on a schedule, so a price you change in Square reaches Vivreal on its own. Leave it off if you would rather pull changes when it suits you.
What you get once it is connected
The Square channel has five tabs.
| Tab | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Overview | Revenue, payouts, orders today, and anything unfulfilled |
| Orders | Every order, with customer details, shipping, and marking orders fulfilled |
| Products | Your Square catalogue |
| Sales | Run a sale on your products |
| Settings | Auto-sync, reconnecting, and disconnecting |
Discount codes are Stripe only
The Sales tab runs public sales, the same way Stripe's does. What it does not have is discount codes. Those exist only on Stripe today, so if running codes matters more to you than anything else, that is a genuine reason to pick Stripe.
Square and Stripe cannot both be on
A group has one payment provider at a time. If Square is connected and you try to connect Stripe, Vivreal does not fail with an error. It offers a guided changeover: it switches Square off, then connects Stripe, and tells you which step failed if one does.
See Connect Stripe for the other side.
Disconnecting Square is not a switch you flip back
When you disconnect Square, Vivreal withdraws its access at Square rather than just forgetting it locally. That is the safer thing to do with a payment account, but it does mean reconnecting is a fresh sign in, not a toggle.
Stripe behaves differently, because there you hold the key and Vivreal can reuse the one it already has.
If something is not working
- Your catalogue is out of date. Turn on Auto-sync catalog in Settings, or sync by hand from the same tab.
- You were sent back without connecting. Sign in again and approve every permission Square asks for.
- You cannot connect because Stripe is on. Use the guided changeover described above.
- You want to stop. Settings, then Disconnect. Read the note above first.
