Connect Mailchimp
Connecting Mailchimp lets you build email campaigns from content you already have in Vivreal, see how your audiences are growing, and track opens and clicks, all from the portal.
Mailchimp is the one email channel in Vivreal. The rest are either payments or social.
Before you start
You need a Mailchimp account with at least one audience in it. If you have never sent anything from Mailchimp, create your audience there first, since a campaign has to have somebody to go to.
1. Open the Mailchimp channel
In Vivreal, go to Channels and tap Mailchimp.
2. Sign in to Mailchimp
Tap Connect. Vivreal sends you to Mailchimp to sign in and approve the connection. You are approving Vivreal, so we never see your Mailchimp password, and there is no key to copy.
3. Come back to Vivreal
Mailchimp sends you back to the Channels page and your account appears under Connected.
4. Set who your emails come from
Open the Settings tab and fill in two things:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Default From Name | The name recipients see in their inbox, usually your business name |
| Default Reply-To Email | Where replies land when somebody answers your email |
Both are applied to new campaigns so you are not retyping them. Worth doing now, because a campaign that arrives from an unfamiliar name gets opened less.
What you get once it is connected
The Mailchimp channel has four tabs.
| Tab | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Overview | Total campaigns, how many were sent, your subscriber count, and total opens |
| Campaigns | Every campaign, drafts included, with opens and clicks on the sent ones |
| Audiences | Each audience with its size, open rate and click rate |
| Settings | From name, reply-to address, syncing, and disconnecting |
Campaigns
The Campaigns tab lists what you have, and you can pull across campaigns you already built in Mailchimp or start a new one here.
Each card shows the subject line, who it is from, and its status. Once a campaign has been sent, the card also shows its opens and clicks.
Drafts can be edited from Vivreal. Sent campaigns cannot, which is how email works everywhere.
Audiences
The Audiences tab lists each audience with its member count, open rate and click rate. It is the quickest read on whether a list is actually working, rather than just getting bigger.
If something is not working
- No audiences appear. You probably have not created one in Mailchimp yet. Create it there, then sync from Settings.
- Your campaigns are missing. Sync from the Settings tab to pull across what already exists in Mailchimp.
- Emails arrive from the wrong name. Check Default From Name in Settings. It applies to new campaigns, not ones already built.
- You want to stop. Settings, then Disconnect. Your campaigns stay in Mailchimp, which remains the record of what was actually sent.
Next steps
- All connections.
- Your content, which is where the material for a campaign comes from.
