Connect LinkedIn
Connecting LinkedIn lets you write, schedule and publish updates from Vivreal, to your own profile or to a Company Page you run.
One connection covers both. You sign in once as yourself, and Vivreal picks up every Company Page you administer along with your profile. You choose which one is posting each time.
Before you start
To post as a Company Page, you need to be an admin of that Page on LinkedIn. If you are not, you can still connect and post from your own profile.
1. Open the LinkedIn channel
In Vivreal, go to Channels and tap LinkedIn.
2. Sign in to LinkedIn
Tap Connect. Vivreal sends you to LinkedIn to sign in and approve the connection. You are approving Vivreal, so we never see your LinkedIn password.
3. Come back to Vivreal
LinkedIn sends you back to the Channels page and your name appears under Connected. Any Company Pages you administer come across at the same time.
4. Check who you are posting as
If you have your profile plus one or more Company Pages, a picker appears at the top of the channel. Whichever one is selected is who the post is published as.
This is the single most useful habit to build with LinkedIn. Posting a company announcement from your personal profile, or a personal note from the company Page, is easy to do and awkward to undo.
What you get once it is connected
The LinkedIn channel has four tabs.
| Tab | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Overview | Who is connected, including your Company Pages |
| Posts | Everything you have written here: published, scheduled and drafts |
| Analytics | How the selected profile or Page is doing |
| Settings | Reconnecting and disconnecting |
Posting
From the Posts tab, tap the + button.
The text is the only part you must fill in. You can attach images, and set who can see the post: public, or connections only.
| Limit | |
|---|---|
| Text | Up to 3,000 characters |
| Images | Up to 9 |
| Video | Not supported from Vivreal yet |
Leave the publish date blank to post immediately, or set a future date and time to schedule it. Scheduled posts go out on their own.
Posts published as a Company Page are labelled as such in the list, so you can tell at a glance which went out as you and which went out as the business.
Analytics
The Analytics tab shows six numbers for whichever profile or Page is selected:
| Number | What it means |
|---|---|
| Followers | How many people follow this profile or Page |
| Impressions | How many times your posts were shown |
| Members reached | How many separate people saw them |
| Reactions | Likes and other reactions |
| Comments | Comments left on your posts |
| Reshares | How many times someone shared a post on |
Impressions and members reached answer different questions. One person shown a post three times is three impressions and one member reached.
For a single post, open the Posts tab, tap the options button on any published post, and choose Analytics.
No chart, on purpose
Unlike Instagram and Facebook, the LinkedIn tab has no trend chart and no top posts list. LinkedIn does not give us the day by day history those need yet, and drawing an empty chart would suggest there is data behind it. The six numbers above are real. When LinkedIn provides the rest, it will appear here.
If Analytics asks you to reconnect
If your connection predates the permissions these numbers need, the tab asks you to reconnect rather than showing zeroes. Reconnect from the Settings tab.
If something is not working
- A Company Page is missing. You are probably not an admin of it. Check on LinkedIn, then reconnect from Settings.
- A post went out as the wrong one. Check the picker at the top of the channel before publishing.
- A post did not go out. See Post did not go out.
- You want to stop. Settings, then Disconnect. Your posts stay in Vivreal, and nothing is removed from LinkedIn.
Next steps
- Scheduling posts, including publishing to several channels at the same moment.
- All connections.
